1A Waldhorn Drive Rosevears tamarridge.com.au This is a winery cellar door, not so much a restaurant, but they do have some nibbly plates and will occasionally host a flash catered dinner (which we can’t wait to attend one of these days). One weekends for lunch they invite caterers Hubert & Dan to present some wonderful tapas. Tamar Ridge is just down the road from our house, so every Friday fortnight or so we find ourselves here, right on the knocker of 4pm, to share a bottle. Currently they close at 5pm, which is probably a good thing. These guys sit happily at the gateway to the West Tamar wine route, 20 minutes out of Launceston. Since we moved to this great town from Hobart a couple of years ago we’ve been delighted about how easily and cheaply you can get good Tassie wine in the area. You can see from the menu below that $30–$35 gets you in the door for a bottle that’s a match for most places in the state; cough up a bit more and you’re in for a terrific ride. So as not to break the bank, our regular choices switch between the non-vintage sparkling, riesling and pinot (i.e. the cheaper ones) and we leave extremely happy. |
